New progress in the research of perovskite solar cells: improving the service life or solving the problems of commercialization

In the specific experiment, researchers set up two groups of perovskite cells treated with DPPP and untreated with DPPP, and lit them uninterruptedly with light with similar intensity to the outdoor sunlight. The comparison test shows that the perovskite battery containing DPPP can still maintain a high level of power conversion efficiency after continuous operation for more than 3500 hours or 145 days under the same conditions such as simulated sunlight.

In an interview with the media, Li Chongwen, the first author of the paper, said that in the literature published in the past, the efficiency of perovskite solar cells often drops sharply after 1500 to 2000 hours, so it is a great progress to be able to operate continuously for more than 3500 hours without reducing the overall efficiency. Going out of the laboratory, new progress can improve the durability of emerging solar cell technology during outdoor operation.
